Choosing the right gear for Power Washing

PWNA

Power washing can be tough work at times, but you don’t have to be cold and uncomfortable. You just need the right protective gear for the job.

Durability is essential for power washing. If your gear can’t hold up – it simply isn’t worth having. Areas that usually fail are the seams, particularly in the crotch and either side of the knees. Look for double welded seams for the best durability.

Can your pressure washing clothing withstand chemicals?

It’s not just the force of the water you need to worry about, but also chemicals and detergents. Basic rain gear will protect you for a short time, but stronger chemicals will eventually eat through non-specialist materials. This is why we recommend materials which are oil resistant.

Don’t forget about comfort and mobility

When focusing on durability, it’s easy to forget about comfort. Long hours can soon lead to discomfort without the right gear. When buying rain gear look for:

Durable materials – get gear that lasts.

Have enough room to keep you comfortable at the right temperature (This can be hard to achieve though when working hard).

Freedom of movement – essential when you need mobility and agility.

Knee pads as an option - look after your knees when working.

Zippers - sometimes overlooked, but large heavy duty zippers will last longer and be easier to use with gloves.

What materials are the best?

We recommend PVC, as it is the right balance of durability and protection. Nylon can be a good option in hot climates.
