Advocacy

The PWNA is at the forefront of making sure its members are well educated and versed in the regulations that govern the mobile contractor industry.

Gas to Electric

On January 1, 2024, the California Air Resource Board (CARB) banned the sale of small off-road spark-ignition engines (SORE) producing 19 kilowatts or less (25 horsepower or less). This includes lawn mowers, blowers, edgers, and commercial pressure washing systems.

PWNA recognizes the shift to electric pressure washing equipment and advocates for a reasonable transition timeline. We call for increased incentives to develop the necessary infrastructure, as current zero-emission equipment faces performance issues, high costs, and limited infrastructure.

PWNA remains committed to working with policymakers, professionals, manufacturers, dealers, and the Cleaning Equipment Trade Association to ensure a responsible transition to low-emission technologies.

What you can do TODAY!

  1. Email your elected officials to inform them of the impact this will have on your business. Request incentives to transition from gas to electric and a reasonable timeline to do so.

  2. Share this information with other Pressure Washing Professionals
